Five months (and 2 days)

Hey Sunshine!

Five months already, huh? Yeah, yeah, I know, time flies.

So, what have you been up to lately? You’ve been hanging out a lot with me, while your mummy jay ploughed her way through her Postgrad portfolio like a trooper. You know what? Looking after you alone was much more challenging than I anticipated. We had fun though, mostly, hanging washing, baking cakes, hoovering – you’ll make someone a good housewife one day.

You’re still going strong on just my breast milk, which is great, especially as I’ve dropped almost two dress sizes since we started. Not that I ever wear dresses, but you know what I mean. The fact that you’ll now take at least a little milk from a cup or bottle, providing we can con you into thinking you’re holding it all by yourself, is a great relief to us both – I can now think about picking up a little work away from home again.

Again, we need to have words about your growth rate. Wardrobe purging has occurred on at least two occasions since your last monthly missive. We were kind of hoping you’d get more use out of your 3-6 month wardrobe. C’est la vie.

Having mastered the rolling thing one sunny afternoon some time ago, you seem to have decided that rolling is not for you and have rarely repeated the feat, being content to lie playing until one of us flips you over. Pushing up is far more fun apparently, although reaching out for toys whilst doing so is always best done with one hand, not two. You will learn.

You’re sitting up pretty well, especially with a big nappy on. You’re in your sit-up, face-forward pushchair now and the pram is waiting to be stored away in the loft. You have a big cot bed and your crib has been passed on for a little baby to use. You’re growing up kid!

Your mum and I know how blessed we are to have you in our lives. You are such a sunny, smiley, contented little boy and we love you more each day.

  1. Too funny… our daughter did the same thing. She rolled over a couple of times, and then didn’t do it again until well after she had mastered crawling and pulling up! She learned rolling over and cruising at the same time 🙂

Turns out, it’s actually rather convenient. Now that she can roll over, she tends to do so during nappy changes.

    awwww.

It felt like JAG skipped 3-6 month sizes and jumped straight ahead to 9 months. Apparently, the clothing companies don’t check with the babies before labeling those cute little outfits.
