First Trimester Report Card – vee

4th June 2008 – 12th September 2008

Overall, vee has progressed well during this trimester. Despite some initial, groundless worries, she eventually managed to harness a more positive frame of mind that I believe has helped her through to this transition point.

Her lack of commitment to the course reading material, however, has unfortunately left her lagging behind other students in the class. Her previous tactic of only reading material immediately relevant to her week-by-week progression through the course is increasingly causing her problems. Although she has made late progress over the last week or so, she will have to apply herself with renewed vigour in this area if she is to catch up before graduation. It is vital that she does this though, if she doesn’t want to find herself struggling unnecessarily in Parenthood 101.

Socially, vee has seemed somewhat reticent during this trimester. She has been shy around other classmates and seemed hesitant about sharing her views. The confident and outgoing attitude she displayed during Infertility: Advanced and IVF: Intermediate classes seems to have deserted her. I hope during the next trimester she is able to find her voice more and bond with the more outgoing members of the class, as I am sure they will be of great support to her in the months ahead.

I’m pleased to say that vee topped the class physically during this semester, though perhaps this is due more to luck than application. A fortunate natural advantage seems to have protected her from the worst of the physical ailments some of her classmates suffered with (sickness, constipation, unexplained bleeding) and although she did stuggle with tiredness from time to time and bore her fair share of headaches, she got through relatively unscathed, a fact which I know she is grateful for.

After a shaky start,  vee has made great progress during this trimester on the whole. With a little more application, I believe she will start to come into her own during Trimester Two and I wish her all the best with her continued studies. Despite not always being the most attentive of students and despite her bouts of anxiety, I have to say she has been a pleasure to teach and I hope she continues to progress well. She will make a great mum if she sticks with it and continues to work hard.

So Bonus Ball is one of those hard to please professors, eh? That’s a good thing, though–students tend to learn the most from them.

Happy second trimester to the expectant mums! This was wonderfully funny.
